Allerton House Hingham Residents Give Back to Local Fire and Police

Allerton House Hingham residents delivered gift baskets to Hingham firefighters and police officers earlier this month as a thank you for their diligence throughout the past year.

“Our community is fortunate to have such caring and dedicated public safety personnel at the ready should the need arise,” said Thomas Karnes, Executive Director, Allerton House Hingham. “We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work our local emergency responders do every day and delivering fall-themed baskets was the least we could do to express our gratitude.”

The event was just one example of Allerton House’s commitment to the community. While there are plenty of activities at Allerton House, such as musical performances and fitness classes, our ability to involve residents in the local community sets it apart from other senior living communities.

“Our residents light up with joy whenever we host a community event,” said Carol Taylor, Director of Marketing at Allerton House Hingham. “It’s heartwarming to see how much they love helping others, and even more so to see their shining smiles as they share meaningful moments with one another.”

Meaningful social connections are crucial to the health of seniors. More than 25% of seniors in the United States, or 13 million, fall under the category of socially isolated, which has been linked to increased overall health risk according to the CDC.

“It’s important for seniors to be surrounded by friends who care about them, and that’s exactly what we’re here for,” added Taylor. “I’ve had many residents and families express their gratitude for the difference Allerton House has made in their lives. From the delicious food to trivia nights, there’s so much to love. Making the move truly is a step in the right direction.”
