Our Assisted Living and Memory Care Residents Considered First Priority For COVID-19 Vaccine

PRIORITY POSITION – PHASE ONE

Great News! The Baker Administration declares Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities are in priority position, Phase One of the Distribution Plan for the coronavirus vaccine. Living in a Welch Senior Living Assisted Living and Memory Care community means you will be among the first in Massachusetts to receive an FDA-approved vaccine for COVID-19.

ANTICIPATED TIMEFRAME

According to the distribution plan unveiled by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, assisted living and memory care residents and our staff are scheduled to receive vaccinations between the end of December 2020 and the end of February 2021. Our communities have been registered with the state, and an approved healthcare provider from the CVS Pharmacy will administer the vaccine at our communities upon receipt during Phase One.

CDC DECLARES THE VACCINES SAFE AND EFFECTIVE

According to the CDC, the vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer have been shown to be highly effective and safe. There have been reports that a very small percentage of individuals who have a history of severe allergic reactions may have an adverse reaction to the vaccine and they would be advised to consult with their personal physician before determining whether they should be vaccinated. The overwhelming majority of volunteers who received the vaccine experienced little or no reaction, similar to receiving the flu vaccine.
